A harmonica and a piano – that’s all it takes to play tango once again into the hearts of Berliners on Monday. Santiago Alvarez ends his European tour with one last concert. The harmonica virtuoso is accompanied by Berlin-based pianist Pablo Woiz, who, like Alvarez, has deep roots in Argentine folk music.
Adiós y hasta pronto.
Santiago Alvarez is dedicated to tango and argentine folk music. Originally from Buenos Aires and with 20 years of professional career he brought a new voice to the music of his native land. He has recorded several music albums and toured extensively in Latin America and Europe performing with numerous artistic proposals (“Tanino duo”, “Chucara trio”, “Vuela Chiringa”). His first soloist album called “Domingo” was released in 2019 featuring historic referents of Argentine musical tradition. He is also aiming to spread worldwide the Argentine way of performing the chromatic harmonica
Pablo Woiz
Pianist Pablo Woiz is known for his expressive playing in the field of Argentine music, especially tango. As a pianist, arranger, composer and teacher, he is currently devoting himself to his projects ‘Pablo Woiz & Milonga Roots’, an experimental crossover in which he explores the origins of the music of the Río de la Plata, as well as his traditional tango trio and quintet. Together with Grammy winner Luis Stazo and Gabriel Merlino’s sextet, Woiz took part in the ‘Tango Pasion Show’ (European tour 2009, 2015, 2019). The Argentine has been living and working in Berlin since 2007.https://pablowoiz.com/
