Santiago Alvarez (harmonica) and Pablo Murgier (piano) are two Argentine musicians with wide trajectory in the international Tango scene. Performing together for the first time in Berlin they will bring the public the wide spectrum of Argentine music explored from the unique sounds of the chromatic harmonica and the piano. Original arrangements of works of Astor Piazzolla, Carlos Gardel, own compositions and improvisation will be part of the journey.
Santiago Alvarez is dedicated to tango and argentine folk music. Originally from Buenos Aires and with 20 years of professional career he brought a new voice to the music of his native land. He has recorded several music albums and toured extensively in Latin America and Europe performing with numerous artistic proposals (“Tanino duo”, “Chucara trio”, “Vuela Chiringa”). His first soloist album called “Domingo” was released in 2019 featuring historic referents of Argentine musical tradition. He is also aiming to spread worldwide the Argentine way of performing the chromatic harmonica
A pianist, composer, and improviser, Pablo Murgier is part of the wave of artists who dare to travel between different musical worlds. On his keyboard, at the crossroads of styles, a musical journey unfolds, creating authentic music and crafting a unique universe.
As a soloist, he has performed in venues such as the CCK in Buenos Aires, the Philharmonie in Munich, the Salle Gaveau and the Philharmonie in Paris, the Philharmonie in Gdansk, and the Nikkei Hall in Tokyo. His first symphony, titled “Solastalgia,” was premiered in 2024. He won first prize at the Tango Sin Fin Awards and was nominated for the Gardel Awards and the Graffiti Awards as the best artist.
