History of the harmonica

Savatore Martinelli, Director of the German Harmonica Museum on the moving history of the harmonica. This lecture is part of the FEN MASTER WORKSHOP but open for everyone who passes by.

The harmonica – small but mighty! How did an inconspicuous instrument become a global success that conquered the whole world? Salvatore Martinelli takes you on an exciting journey through time: from a small workshop in the Black Forest out into the wide world. Discover how the harmonica found its way into the hearts of cowboys, settlers and blues musicians and became a worldwide symbol of creativity, music and success. A fascinating story about the departure of a small instrument on a great journey that still resonates today.

SALVATORE MARTINELLI
Martinelli is a historian and director of the German Harmonica Museum in Trossingen. As a dedicated city archivist and curator, he is passionate about cultural mediation and the preservation of the harmonic heritage.
